Outrage after child pees in temple

Tourism and Sports Minister Sermsak Pongpanit has blamed a foreign couple for letting their child urinate in public inside the Grand Palace.

He spoke to the media on Wednesday about the incident on his first day as minister.

Mr Sermsak said what happened was inappropriate, especially in a temple compound, which is a sacred place and deserves respect.

He added that he would ask agencies under his ministry to look into the matter.

The picture of a tourist couple standing behind a girl, aged around four to five years old, apparently urinating on a walkway near the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall, was posted on Wednesday on X by the user @Skyboyz15.

The picture quickly went viral, generating condemnation from the public.
