- A host of top artists in the Thai music scene will be performing during the "Plaeng Baab Prapas (Prapas's Songs)" concert held to honour the master songwriter Prapas Cholsaranon. The artists include Jennifer Kim, Nakarin Kingsak, Peerapat Tenwong, Chalatit Tuntiwut, Thanaporn Wagprayoon, Sarm Tone, Chaliang and Doo-Ba-Doo. They will be singing some of the all-time hits composed by Prapas such as Phroa Arai, Pee Chai Thee Saen Dee , Mai Keed Fai Kub Dok Tarn Tawan and many more.

They will be playing works by Stan Getz, Duke Ellington and Rodgers and Hart. "The Art of Jazz Guitar" concert is scheduled for July 12 during which Pratt Arunrungsri will be playing the works of Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour and other jazz guitar heroes.

- The Bangkok Opera and Musica Ficta present the "Three Ages of French Music" concert featuring music from eight centuries. The Musica Ficta Mediaeval Ensemble will play works of the troubadours; Trisdee na Phattalung will perform French baroque music by Couperin and Rameau on the harpsichord; Susheilagh Angpiroj will join forces with pianist Naoko Kato to perform one of the classic French song cycles, La bonne chanson by Faure.

- The Gate Theatre Group of Chiang Mai presents The Gin Game, an intense, spirited stage drama by American playwright DL Coburn. This is a two-act, four-scene play about a woman in her twilight years, Fonsia Dorsey, who enters a "home for the aged" and is for a while, saved from melancholy by the crusty charm of sardonic Weller Martin.

Rocking good time

- We Will Rock You, one of the most popular musicals from London's West End, will be staged in Bangkok for the first time. The 2-act musical features over 20 Queen songs, including the favourites like We Will Rock You, Killer Queen, Radio Ga Ga, We Are the Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody.

New documentaries

- The Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT) is screening two documentaries with a question and answer session by film-makers from the US and Serbia. Directed by Erich Fleshman, Desolation Angel is a personal road-journey for the American filmmaker, who moved to Thailand many years back but is still confused by the many contradictions of the country. From Siam to the Killing Fields is Belgrade-based Marko Sopic's response to Asia, which he finds to be worlds apart from Europe where he has lived in many cities.
