The introduction of the Mercedes-Benz SL Black Series signals the end of the SLR supercar - the fruit of cooperation between the Stuttgart boys and F1 racing partner McLaren.
The B80m Mercedes-McLaren SLR was made in both Coupe' and Roadster forms using the SL55 AMG's supercharged V8. A special 722 Edition SLR saw power rising to 650hp for a 3.6sec 0-100kph time and a 337kph top end.
Although the German and British have parted ways in making road-going cars, they are still tied in the world's foremost motorsport event.
McLaren is now planning to make its own supercar, while Mercedes is said to be developing a gullwing SLC based on the SL Black Series.
