MERCEDES-BENZ SL65 AMG BLACK SERIES
Smokin' Merc

Is this the meanest Merc ever?

End of the road

The introduction of the Mercedes-Benz SL Black Series signals the end of the SLR supercar - the fruit of cooperation between the Stuttgart boys and F1 racing partner McLaren.

CITROEN
NICHE B-CAR

Citroen has come up with another chic MPV - the C3 Picasso - in an attempt to further steal shares in the fiercely competitive B-segment in Europe. It combines cute looks (or bizarre, depending how you see it) while squeezing out more versatility from its boxy interior. The French car maker targets couples needing more space than a conventional hatch but dying to do it in style on a low budget.

PORSCHE 911 CARRERA S
Cloud Nine

While other car makers call their update of a current model a face-lift, minor-change or evolution, Porsche calls it "second generation" for its four-year-old 911, codenamed 997.

NEW TECH Springs into action

Yes, the V10 cranks out 592hp, but it's the dampers that get us really excited. The suspension on the ACR is threaded, giving 32mm of ride height adjustment. In addition, the aluminium monotube dampers are mounted to the Viper on spherical bearings. Remote reservoirs are used, as are adjusters giving 14 levels of compression and 19 different settings for rebound.

Fuel prices dent pick-up sales

The second quarter closed out with a haul of 50,108 vehicles in June, the fourth lowest monthly return this year, taking sales at the halfway mark to 321,474 units for a 9.9% growth over the same period last year.

ROAD TRIP
Cross-country raider

The serene rolling hills and 360-degree mountain vista of Nakhon Ratchasima's Wang Nam Khiew district awaits an entourage of Nissan Frontier Navara 4x4s.

OFF THE Beaten Track
Illusions of LPG

How dependent are Thai people on LPG? Well, you all would have witnessed that several days ago there was an "artificial shortage" of LPG. I say "artificial" because I believe it was the result of market manipulation when it was hoped that the government would allow the price to float.

INTERVIEW RICHARD HAIGH
Business as usual for this big cat

The firm that designed and built some of the most seductive cars of the last century hasn't been English-owned for quite a while now. And, in case you hadn't heard, it recently changed nationality yet again.
