Silk Road

- Siam Society is holding a study trip to the Silk Road, a series of ancient trade routes stretching across Central Asia to Europe. Led by Eileen Deeley, the trip will take participants to Xinjiang in China's far northwest, home to 13 nationalities and the largest ethnic group is the Uighurs, descendants of Turkic nomads who once roamed the steppes. A visit is planned to an Uighur village to explore authentic Uighur lifestyle as well as their vernacular architecture and traditional cultural activities.
