Samart I-Mobile, the handset distribution subsidiary of Samart Corporation, has reduced its local handset sales target from three million units this year to 2.5 million, while increasing its export sales target from 2.5 million to 3 million. Managing director Thananant Wilailuck said that although the overall handset market continued to grow, the company was adjusting to improved export prospects and slower local sales.
Its major international markets for handsets are Vietnam and Indonesia
He said that average prices for I-Mobile handsets had dropped to 2,000 baht from 2,600 baht. Handsets priced between 1,000 and 3,000 baht have 70% of the total market.
In the second half of this year, I-Mobile would introduce seven models priced below 3,000 baht to both domestic and international markets and keep using presenters to promote sales in both markets.
Samart I-Mobile (SIM) shares closed yesterday on the Stock Exchange of Thailand at 1.96 baht, up three satang, in trade worth 4.9 million baht.
