Bangkok lowest on index

Bangkok was ranked lowest among the cities with human security, a survey by the Social Development and Human Security has found. Suvinai Wattatham, a director of the Bureau of Social Development and Human Security Standards, said the other cities with the lowest human security were Phuket, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon and Nonthaburi.

The survey carried out last year judged human security situations through indicators including housing, healthcare, education, employment, personal and family security, social support, culture, basic rights and justice and politics and good governance.

According to the study, the northern region topped the human security index with 77.21 points, followed by the northeastern region (75.25), the southern region (65.23) and the central region (63.12).

Chiang Mai topped the city index.
