Thailand's Wisut Artjanawat has been named the Mercedes-Benz Tour's player of the year following his two victories.
The 27-year-old finished in the top 10 in all the six tournaments he entered on the nine-event circuit which is also known as the Asean Tour.
He won two titles in the Philippines and Vietnam and was third on the Order of Merit with US$28,200 in earnings.
"I am surprised as I did not expect to win the award. But I am happy to win it," he said. "This proves how well I played this year, although I thought the award would go to the money winner."
Wisut said the two-year-old Tour was an important stage for players in Southeast Asia to hone their skills before moving up to a higher level.
His next target is try to secure an Asian Tour card for next year by finishing in the top 65 of the Order of Merit.
Wisut, who is 76th on the Asian Tour's money list, will play in Vietnam this week which will be followed by the Cambodian Open.
Thailand's Pariya Junhasavasdikul, who turned professional in March, won the rising star award after his triumph in Singapore.
Angelo Que of the Philippines finished on top of the Order of Merit after winning US$32,209, while the Imperial Club in Jakarta was named the host venue and golf course of the year.
Chatwithai Tantraphorn, manager of corporate communications for Daimler Chrysler (Thailand), said that the Mercedes-Benz Tour had become more popular and the number of tournaments and total prize money would increase next year.
