AMORNRAT MAHITTHIROOK
The board of Airports of Thailand (AoT) yesterday acknowledged the resignation tendered by AoT president Chana U-sathaporn and appointed a caretaker president, a source said. The board named Utsa Borisuth, former deputy AoT president, as acting AoT president.
Flt-Lt Utsa is a retiree and sits on the AoT board.
Before the board meeting yesterday, Transport Minister Santi Promphat confirmed that AM Chana had tendered his resignation as AoT president after seven months in office.
The board will proceed to pick a new AoT president. Mr Santi said he did not have anyone in mind for the job.
He denied rumours that AM Chana was offered five to six million baht cash in exchange for his resignation.
The source at the airport agency said AM Chana tendered his resignation on Tuesday citing health problems. It will take effect on Aug 5.
But the real reason behind the decision was pressure from politicians, according to the source
