Now that Porsche has already confirmed a diesel engine of the Cayenne SUV, pundits are wondering whether the new Panamera could get it too in the future.
While exotic car marques usually shun diesels for varying reasons, Lamborghini has become the latest sports car specialist to have an open mind with diesel.
At the Paris motor show in September, the Italians said the all-new Estoque saloon could go diesel or hybrid whichever is suitable for the current economic climate in the auto industry.
Even Bentley is said to be known to be thinking like Lamborghini. Both brands are owned by VW Group.
The oil-burner of the Cayenne comes from Audi: 240hp 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel. Technically, this engine can slot in the Panamera.
