TONY WALTHAM
We are all newcomers to the rapidly expanding landscape of new media where the scenery is rapidly changing. New social networking tools are emerging, there are Web 2.0 mash-ups, virtual worlds to explore, videos and podcasts. It can be hard just to keep up with the latest developments, so here's somewhere to start looking for guidance and where you can dive deeply: Robin Good's MasterNewMedia (www.masternewmedia.org) that has the tagline ''Professional Online Publishing, New Media Trends, Communication Skills, Online Marketing.'' Now, while this may sound like it is tailored for editors and publishers, in this day and age of Internet presence, we can all be publishers of our own content: be it on Facebook, Twitter or Hi5, in a blog, or through videos we may upload to YouTube and so on.
MasterNewMedia has three main sections on the opening page: ''Feature Articles by Robin Good,'' ''Breaking New Media News'' and ''How-to Guides.'' RSS feeds for these and other sub-sections can provide you with regular updates.
According to an interview at netsquared.org, Robin Good is ''the leading evangelist for the creation of a new type of knowledge worker'' _ a Newsmaster _ whose role is to subscribe to RSS feeds of many news sources, search queries and other resources, then filter the results with a combination of machine automation and topic-specific expert knowledge.'' Visit masternewmedia.org and you'll see what he means.
