MONEY& BANKING AWARDS
Bangkok Bank, the country's largest bank, has won the 2008 Bank of The Year award from Money and Banking magazine. Kannikar Chalitaporn, the president of Siam Commercial Bank, was named financier of the year at the annual awards event held last night. She was cited for her success in expanding the century-old institution, as well as for contributions to society, visionary leadership and professionalism.
Taking the best retail bank award was Kasikornbank, based on its successes in attracting interest among the hundreds of thousands of people attending the 2008 Money Expo in May.
Siam Cement, the country's largest industrial conglomerate, won the award for the Best Public Company of the year, based on its performance, return on investment and company size.
The award winners were announced at a ceremony chaired by Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee.
