PEA secure Thailand Premier League title in style with resounding win on final day; Bangkok Bank relegated

The Provincial Electricity Authority won their first Thailand Premier League title yesterday after beating Coke-Bangpra 4-1 in the final round of the season.
The PEA finished on 61 points, two more than defending champions Chonburi FC who defeated Bangkok Bank 2-1. The loss sent the Bankers to Division One.
The PEA took home the 10 million baht first prize while Chonburi FC received two million baht.
At Coke Jumlong ground in Chon Buri province, national star Pipat Tonkanya got on the scoresheet twice alongside Narongchai Vachiraban and Ronnachai Rangsiyo to give PEA a comfortable win. Coke-Bangpra got a consolation from Cameroon's Obode Efe in the 74th minute.
"It is great to win the Thailand League title for the first time," said PEA coach Prapol Pongpanich.
"We waited for this for a long time and we finally did it. I would like to thank our players for a great season."
At the Army stadium in Bangkok, Chonburi took a 2-0 lead through Sarawut Jantaphan (22) and Tana Chanaboot (74). Sittisak Taraphan pulled one back for Bangkok Bank with five minutes to go.

Chonburi FC deputy manager Annop Singtothong said his team's home draw with Samut Songkram in the penultimate match was the major blow.
"We have to prepare ourselves for the next season," he said.
The win sent Bangkok Bank to Division One for the first time in 53 years. The Army and the Customs were also relegated.
Three Division One sides won promotion to the top flight - Muang Thong-Nong Jok United, Sri Racha Sannibart and the Royal Thai Navy.
In yesterday's other Thai league matches, BEC Tero Sasana edged Krung Thai Bank 3-2; TOT beat Port 3-1; Chula United thrashed Bangkok University 5-1; Customs defeated Army 1-0; Nakhon Pathom lost 2-0 to Tobacco Monopoly; and Samut Songkram lost 3-1 Osotspa M-150.
