Auto website offers financing

SRISAMORN PHOOSUPHANUSORN

If you're selling your car or looking for a new second-hand car, searching an online car matchmaker might be a quick and easy option for you.

Taladrod.com’s financing service has surpassed expectations, and almost 500 second-hand car buyers received financing since the service started early this year, says Mr Tawat.

But if you also wanted assistance in the car financing process, the website http://www.taladrod.com claims to avoid headaches and scams.

Touted as the first of its kind in the industry, the website allows buyers to get a loan approval within one hour by a finance firm linked to the company. Taladrod.com will pay a cash advance to the seller once the loan is approved.

The buyer can take the car with the registration book while the seller receives money simultaneously.

In the past, buyers and sellers needed at least one week for purchasing and financing used cars under the conventional dealership system.

Tawat Soranatawornkun, managing director and founder of the website, said the company's financing service had succeeded beyond expectations, and almost 500 second-hand cars received financing since the service started early this year.

Taladrod.com charges buyers 1% of the credit car loan for finance handling services.

With the company's services, Mr Tawat said, buyers and sellers can avoid trouble with limited financing sources in light of the existing credit crunch.

The company now has 300 used cars selling through the website with 20,000 visitors a day. An average of between 50 and 100 cars have been sold per month with 20 million baht in transaction value.

He said the company also planned to offer a VAT refund for customers who applied for its financing service.

Mr Tawat admitted that the overall second-hand car market in Thailand this year has been significantly affected by expensive oil prices, diesel oil in particular, and the flood of new alternative-energy cars with cheaper oil prices.

In addition, the increasing popularity of new, low-priced small cars was taking its toll on the used car market.

Company sales slipped slightly, thanks to the high demand in used small cars offset by a sharp decline in passenger car and pickup truck sales.

"We expect our sales revenue to double this year," Mr Tawat said, but he declined to give a figure.
