SRT10 gets a Viper-sourced 600hp 8.4-litre V10 to fend off Chevrolet's planned 550hp Camaro LS7
- Dodge's SRT (Street Racing Technology) division has created the maddest version of the Challenger muscle car: SRT10 boasting a 600hp 8.4-litre all-aluminium V10 and six-speed manual gearbox from the Viper supercar.
- The SRT10 would become the fourth variant of the Challenger, the others being SRT8 boasting a 425hp 6.1-litre V8 and the regular versions with either a 372hp 5.7-litre V8 or 250hp 3.5-litre V6.
- To cope with the massive power, the SRT10 gets six-pot brake calipers from Brembo up front and four-pot ones at the rear. The chassis is also said to have been stiffened.

| V10 is all-aluminium. |
- Special visual effects include 20-inch aluminium wheels rimmed with Pirelli PZero tyres, the Viper's front splitter and rear spoiler and that classic "shaker hood" reminiscent of the 1970 HEMI Cuda.
- Lightweight parts include carbonfibre bonnet and boot lids in a bid to shed weight and boost performance, which wasn't revealed though. But the SRT10 would naturally better the SRT8's 0-100kph time of 5.0sec.
- Should Dodge give the green light for production to the SRT10, expect limited numbers and left-hand-drive only. This treatment gives the Challenger the chance to fend off Chevrolet's planned 550hp V8 Camaro LS7 (see Motoring, Nov 7) and Ford's all-new Mustang due to be unveiled next week at the Los Angeles motor show.
ONE LAST THING: Despite the exclusivity of the SRT8 and its steering wheel being on the wrong side, a sample is already roaming on Thai roads - in that classic red colour.
