Positive directions

In the second part of the two-part series on feng shui to improve your house, Saikarn Karnchanapaisal discusses the next step that is needed to help improve the characteristics of each direction of the house.

The following chart best describes the characteristics of the house.

Ways to improve negative directions:

1. South: Place an object that reflects light. Splash five buckets of water on the object, on the fourth day of each month.

2. Northwest: Place a bottle gourd to remedy sicknesses or decorate with metal wind chimes, which has eight tubes.

3. Southwest: Place a blue-coloured object or a container filled with water.

4. West: Place a bowl of water and leave the light on during the night, until dawn. Do not repair or change the area.

5. North: Place a golden metal doll facing north or alternatively place six plants, which would positively affect the power, authority, prosperity, business performance and respect of the residents.

In addition, residents should leave the doors and windows of the positive directions open to receive energy flow and increase the usage of the areas.

For this year, East is the most positive direction and should be frequently used as a living room or activity area, while the door of this room should be left open.

On the other hand, South is the record-breaking negative direction of the past 12 years and should not be unnecessarily repaired or physically altered. No tree cutting, drilling nails in the wall to hang pictures, soil digging, or toilet repairing. If necessary, these activities can be done on auspicious times as advised by the experts.

One should also avoid moving in a new house that faces southward this year. Otherwise, there might be various complications with health.
