COMMUNICATIONS : The National Telecommunications Commission yesterday refused to endorse a request by CAT Telecom to allow its mobile phone concessionaires DTAC and True Move to import equipment to provide mobile broadband services.
Gen Choochart Promprasit, the NTC chairman, said the board wanted more details on the transfer of frequencies to the operators and on CAT's legal commitments.
The NTC has already allowed Advanced Info Service, the mobile phone concessionaire of TOT Plc, to import equipment and provide mobile broadband services in Chiang Mai.
DTAC wants to upgrade 1,220 base stations in Bangkok, Phuket and Chon Buri to provide services, while True Move will upgrade 656 stations in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Phuket and Maha Sarakham.

15-day yield 3.33%
DEBT MARKET :The Bank of Thailand yesterday auctioned 61.9 billion baht worth of 15-day central bank bills for a weighted average accepted yield of 3.33692%. Accepted bid yields ranged from 3.26% to 3.36%, with the bid coverage ratio 1.02 times.
The central bank also sold one billion baht in 28-day treasury bills for an average yield of 3.27087%. Accepted bid yields ranged from 3.243% to 3.3%, with bid coverage of 3.98 times. Also sold were one billion baht in 91-day bills for an average yield of 3.39% with bid coverage of 4.54 times, and one billion baht in 182-day bills for an average yield of 3.5375% with bid coverage of 3.56 times.

Livestock seminar
AGRICULTURE : The Actim Thailand Club, the veterinary science faculty of Chulalongkorn University and the Franco-Thai Research Fund will hold a conference titled "The Adjustment Of Livestock Industry Facing Energy Crisis" on July 23 at Chulalongkorn University.
