10 questions for Thompson

zWhat's your favourite car? I think the supercharged 1999 Buick Riviera is an absolutely gorgeous car [and after Googling it, as he suggested, I'd have to say it's a mean beaut, too]!

zFavourite timepiece?

IWC.

zFavourite restaurant?

Free Style across from Rasa Tower [on Phahon Yothin Road]. Wonderful people, great service, great food and value.

zFavourite athlete ?

Tiger Woods.

zFavourite destination; and why?

Hua Hin. There's no need to get on an airplane and out of an airport; lots of CNG [compressed natural gas] stations along the way, and the Anantara resort.

zFavourite rock and roll band?

Phil Collins

zFavourite book?

Turnaround Kid by Steve Miller, who's the chairman of Delphi.

zMcCain or Obama?

The presidential race has to get closer [to polling day] to figure out their positions on many things.

It's definitely going to be one of the more interesting elections in the US [notice how he plays it safe!].

zGreatest achievement?

Raising two good kids who are both in college. I'm very lucky they turned out that way; [it's all] because of my wife's hard work, and some of mine.

zIf you were put in charge of national automotive policy for a day, what would you do?

I'd lay out an energy roadmap that takes into account different angles such as CNG, E85 and hybrid-electric vehicles and make it beneficial for manufacturers to pick one, or all three, and bring that new technology to Thailand so that it doesn't get built somewhere else.
