| INSTRUCTION: Thailand coach Peter Reid talks to his players yesterday ahead of today’s final match against hosts Vietnam in the T&T Cup. |
The last game of the round-robin three-team tournament was postponed from two weeks ago due to torrential rain.
Thailand had beaten North Korea 1-0 in their only outing while Vietman drew 0-0 with the Koreans.
Reid, in his first assignment as Thailand coach, said yesterday it would be a big game for the Vietnamese and he was worried about their players.
"I am impressed by their two widemen and their striker also looks good," the former England midfielder said after watching Vietnam train.
"They are well organised so it will be difficult for us."
As for his own team, Reid said everybody was raring to go and that his men would play for a win.
"If we go out and try to play for a draw, it could be a disaster and we could end up losing," he said.
"We want to win this game and want to win this competition. But the most important thing is to improve the squad."
Vietnam coach Henrique Calisto said that the Vietnamese often lose to Thailand because they lack confidence.
"The skills of the Thai and Vietnamese players are not much different," he said.
"But when Vietnam play Thailand, they often think they cannot beat them. I want them to think positively and not negatively."
The match kicks off at 7pm and will be shown live on NBT (Channel 11).
