Eight people, including two policemen, were injured in a series of bomb attacks in Pattani and Yala on Tuesday and yesterday, local police said.
On Tuesday, a bomb exploded at the Coliseum Cineplex construction site close to a parking lot reserved for police vehicles in Muang district of Pattani, injuring eight people.
Among the wounded were two policemen.
Police said attackers placed the homemade bomb in a rubbish bin before detonating it using a mobile phone.
One suspect was called in for questioning yesterday.
In Yala, a time-bomb blew up at Muang district hall fence and another in a men's restroom inside the hall yesterday. Nobody was hurt.
A third bomb went off at a registration room in Muang district later. No casualties were reported.
After the three bomb blasts, security at district hall was beefed up.
Assistant police chief Pol Lt-Gen Adul Saengsingkaew said the explosions were aimed at causing havoc.
Also in Yala, three suspects were held for questioning on suspicion of having a hand in the ambush of a patrol unit in Raman district yesterday.
In Pattani, three bombing suspects were detained during a raid in Nong Chik district yesterday. Another escaped.
The raid was prompted by an intelligence report that suspects had gone into hiding in the district after launching a bomb attack and ambushing a teacher escort team in Songkhla's Thepha district on Monday.
Police said two of the suspects denied the allegations, but the other confessed.
