Epson introduces new inkjets

SASIWIMON BOONRUANG

`Epson will grow by 10 per cent this year,' says Naoyuki Saeki.
Having been successful in solving problems caused by refilled ink cartridges with the launch of a 190 baht cartridge called "Save Jung" last year, Epson (Thailand) has followed on by introducing a third generation Save Jung campaign together with four new printers.

"Speedy Save Jung," adds print speed to quality, endurance and waterproof ink and is embodied in two inkjet printers, the Stylus T11 and the Stylus T20E, priced at 1,590 and 1,790 baht and aimed at students and first-time users. The two printers offer 5,760 by 1,440-dpi performance and bundle Creativity Suite and Epson Web-to-Page software.

Epson also introduced two multi-function printers for small office and home use - the Stylus TX200 and Stylus TX400, for 3,900 baht and 4,990 baht.

Executive director of Epson (Thailand) Yunyong Muneemongkoltorn said the sales of Epson supplies had increased significantly after the introduction of Save Jung ink cartridges.

The inkjet printer market this year is forecast to be around 940,000 units, an increase of eight per cent over last year.

The ratio of single function printer to multi-function printer in 2007 was 52 to 48, however this would be 45 to 55 this year because of a smaller price gap. Epson now claims around a 25 percent market share of the single function and multi-function inkjet printer market.

Yunyong said products offering speed, quality, value and being competitively-priced would be the key strategy for the company this year, adding that there would be more events, activities and promotions to get closer to customers.

Epson (Thailand) president Naoyuki Saeki said that the economic and political situation had delayed investments by the private sector, but that this year the corporate market would have larger IT budgets and that printer sales would continue to grow.

The company had targetted 10 percent growth by providing business solutions such as business scanners and passbook printers for banks, he said, adding that Epson had recently set up a team to focus on banking, education, hospitality and corporate customers.
