Software Park, with participation from the public and private sectors, will organise the first Software Park Annual Conference at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre next Tuesday.
The conference's objectives are to share opportunities and the latest trends in IT with software entrepreneurs and everyone involved in the industry.
The conference incorporates two main sections: Seminars and exhibitions.
The seminars will feature industry speakers who will talk on topics such as "Optimising Thai businesses in the digital economy," "ICT trends and how to prepare for new technology" and "Life Style 3.0: Enjoying Life with Technology." The seminars cover three tracks: Business Enabling, Technology and Innovation, and "Boost Up IT Professional Spirit."
The conference is designed to be a platform for the knowledge and information sharing essential for the development of the country's software industry, leading to domestic and international marketing opportunities and improving the skill sets of IT professionals.
According to Software Park Thailand director Suwipa Wanasathop, the Thai software industry has a huge potential if it chooses the right vertical markets. The software market this year would grow by 10 to 13 per cent, and SMEs were an opportunity for Thai software houses, while service-oriented architecture technologies were a factor to encourage the growth of software development.
Software Park's aims include acting as a model to establish a software cluster in Thailand, developing qualified IT professionals for different industries, generating marketing opportunities, incubating software developers, improving software development processes and encouraging the use of IT in various industries.
Having now been established for 10 years, Software Park has addressed these six critical areas to help the software industry in Thailand.
The director noted that Software Park would would continue to offer networking opportunities by inviting smart people to participate in the industry. One that has been successful is the Thailand Android Social Network, that has led to a community that develops mobile applications.
In terms of marketing strategy, she noted that Software Park would build more partnerships.
The Regional Software Parks, comprising 11 country members with 15 parks, would be a channel that the Software Park can use to link Thai software companies and their counterparts in the 11 member countries.
Software Park will help accelerate the spin-off of IT departments. She noted that now it took time for companies to spin-off their IT departments, and that Software Park planned to help companies accelerate the process by offering incubation for both the service and software sectors by helping them use IT successfully and to transform to a new business model.
"We would apply the model of software incubation to the service sector," she said.
Software Park will also promote the use of IT in both the public and private sectors by focussing on SMEs in the areas of tourism, agriculture, healthcare and retail businesses.
It will also introduce a "Cyber Software Park," making all of Software Park's services and advice available on the Internet.
