The Acer Aspire One netbook with new Intel Atom processor is now available for 14,900 baht.

Acer Computer recently announced the Acer Aspire One netbook, powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, and available at the Commart X'Gen Thailand 2008 show with a sales target of 20,000 units in July.
Alan Chiang, general manager of Acer Computer, noted that the Aspire One was a revolution of life style as it totally changed the way people work and entertain. It bridged a gap between mobile phone and notebook computer with mobility and Internet accessibility, he said. ''Netbooks would address and generate a new segment and it would help the notebook computer market to increase by 30 per cent this year,'' the general manager said.
Acer expects that the total notebook market in Thailand will increase from 1.2 million units to 1.5 million units by the end of the year. The company is targeting sales of some 20,000 netbooks in July. According to Jayant Murty, director of Brand and Campaign strategy for Intel Asia Pacific, there were some 1.5 billion Internet users worldwide today and the demand for Internet access continued to grow, however in Asia less than 10 per cent of users have access to the Internet and device affordability was still a barrier.
The netbook would fulfil the need with its twin features of simplicity and affordability. He said that the new netbook devices were targeted at a broad range of users, from people getting started on the Internet to consumers who want personal and portable technology to connect to the Internet anywhere, anytime. Designed for a basic Internet experience, the netbook allows users to send emails, make VoIP calls, watch videos, view photos or stay in touch by instant messaging.
Weighed just 900g with an 8.9in. screen, the Aspire One, priced at 14,900 baht, comes with a choice of operating system, either Linpus Linux and Windows XP, with 512 MB or 1GB of RAM installed. Customers can choose either an 8GB flash memory module or an 80GB internal HDD, and the system connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi.
Acer has also developed a ''One Mail'' application that aggregates email from different free services.
The company holds a promotion with 3,000 baht discount for buying Acer notebook Aspire 4920G, priced at 34,900 baht together with Acer Aspire One netbook, with a total price of 46,800, and Acer Apire M5640 desktop priced at 34,900 baht together with Acer Aspire One netobook, with a total price of 46,800 baht.
