Teenage boy dies playing online game

A young boy was found dead while playing an online computer game at a shop in Bang Kapi district yesterday.

Police found the unidentified boy, aged 14-15, dead in an armchair in front of the computer he was playing an online game on inside the shop on Ramkhamhaeng Soi 57.

Shop caretaker Sarawut Khamjanya, 26, said the boy had arrived at the shop one hour earlier and started to play the online game. He also ordered fried rice and a soft drink. When Mr Sarawut went to tell the boy his playing time was up, he found the boy slumped in the chair and called police.

A medical team tried to resuscitate him, but to no avail. Samples of the soft drink and fried rice were sent for forensic tests. Jedsada Chokdamrongsuk, deputy chief of the Medical Services Department, said the boy may have had a congenital disease or suffered sleep deprivation.
