The Criminal Court yesterday dismissed a fraud suit filed against cosmetic surgeon Kaweewat Hengsawat, who was recently arrested on a charge of masterminding the murder of a client who filed the lawsuit against him. The suit was filed by Apassanan Setara when she still used her old name, Rawewan, and her son Jetsada Wiwattananukul. She was a client of Dr Kaweewat's Bio Clinic in Don Muang.

After Apassanan was shot dead in September last year, her son acted as co-plaintiff in the suit against Dr Kaweewat.
The suit accused Dr Kaweewat, formerly Paisarn, of defrauding his patients between April 2003 and March 2005 by advertising a technique using a drug that was not yet approved by the Thai Food and Drug Administration. The drug allegedly caused negative side effects.
Apassanan had accused Dr Kaweewat of misinforming her and talking her into allowing him to inject a ''bio-technique'' substance into her face.
The defendant denied defrauding her. Before providing treatment, he had told his client that he would inject liquid silicone into her face. If the client was not satisfied, the silicone could be taken out.
The court found that Apassanan had sought laser treatment for melasma at a public hospital after the defendant had injected the silicone into her face.
Apassanan later returned to Dr Kaweewat's clinic and asked him to remove silicone particles from under her eye, which he did.
However, she failed to inform Dr Kaweewat that she had earlier sought laser treatment for her melasma.
The court found that the defendant's surgery met medical standards and decided to dismiss the suit against him.
Dr Kaweewat yesterday expressed delight after hearing the court verdict, saying it was proof that justice prevails.
But he was arrested at a clinic in Pattaya last Wednesday on a charge of masterminding the murder of Apassanan after police produced new evidence linking him to the killing.
He was later released on bail on condition he does not leave the country and does not interfere with witnesses
