Noppadon at CSD
DEFAMATION :Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama yesterday showed up at the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) office to acknowledge a defamation charge filed by the Assets Scrutiny Committee (ASC) last year.
Mr Noppadon denied the charge, which was made following comments during a press interview on the ASC's performance when he was legal adviser to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. In the interview, Mr Noppadon questioned the legality of the committee, which was authorised to freeze and seize the Shinawatra family's assets.

Kramol tipped
POLITICS :Former Constitution Court president Kramol Thongthammachart is tipped to be chairman of a special parliamentary committee to assess the enforcement of the 2007 constitution, a source in the People Power party said yesterday.
Government whips secretary Samart Kaewmeechai said the government and opposition whips had agreed to set up a joint panel comprising 44 members within 60 days.
According to the source, there were five candidates and Mr Kramol was the likely choice because of his seniority and impartiality.
Mr Kramol was one of the majority of judges who dismissed wealth concealment charges against former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in 2001. The decision drew strong public criticism.
