Johnnie Walker sales hold steady

Diageo Moet Hennessy (Thailand), the local importer and distributor of Johnnie Walker, says its whisky sales have not been affected by the slowing economy. ''Demand is still strong as our target customers are affluent people who are less affected by the situation,'' said vice-president Zanita Kajiji.

The company will import 36,000 Black Label limited anniversary edition bottles to build brand awareness and to celebrate its 100th anniversary. It expects the limited edition, at 1,290 baht for a 750ml bottle, to sell out within three months.

Black Label has 70% of the deluxe whisky market and Chivas Regal the rest. Johnnie Walker Red Label has 80% of the premium market.
