The folks of Khon Kaen must have been perplexed to witness the ubi-quitous and out of the ordinary presence of tinted windows and high-roof vans with Bangkok licence plates zooming around town during the past weekend.
Earlier this month, Amarin Plaza, in collaboration with Asean Handicraft Promotion and Development Association and the Thailand Handicraft Trade Association, held a fund-raising event, "10,000 baht to Build the Homes and Recuperate the Lives".
La Fete 2008's closing show will see Cie Montalvo-Hervieu take to the stage with La Bossa Fataka de Rameau. Live and recorded dancers jam to Jean-Philippe Rameau's ballet music and hip hop rhythms - breakdancing, ballet, acrobatics, you name it.
It was the concert of a lifetime for both the players, all senior-male musicians and music instructors, and the audience alike.

I must say I rather like the Korean Tourism Organisation's choice of "cultural" performance for the 50th anniversary celebration of diplomatic ties between Thailand and South Korea. The "Korea Sparkling Roadshow", featuring Jump, was commissioned, as expected, to "promote tourism and cultural exchange between the two countries". And thank God, they didn't bring something tacky or insipid, or both.
