At least 12 hurt in clashes

POST REPORTERS

At least 12 people were injured yesterday in two clashes between pro-government and anti-government demonstrators as the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) extended its protest to Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports. The first confrontation was on Vibhavadi Rangsit road in front of Soi 3 about 5pm, when the PAD supporters tried to storm a pro-government community radio station run by a group of taxi drivers.

Government supporters initially hurled rocks and other objects at a vehicle carrying the PAD protesters, who then retaliated with slingshots and gunfire.

Eleven people were injured and taken to hospital. Bang Sue police ended the fracas.

PAD demonstrators clashed with taxi drivers about 6pm outside Suvarnabhumi airport.

It was reported the PAD fired half a dozen gunshots at the taxi drivers, who were armed with sticks, injuring one of them.
