Four bombs went off in Bangkok in the early hours of yesterday, injuring 15 people.
The first explosion was close to Dusit bridge on Rama V road in Dusit district about 2.30am. It left a small crater in the road, but nobody was hurt. Police believe it was an M26 hand grenade.
Witnesses said the driver of a bronze-coloured car was chasing a Yamaha Fino scooter and the pillion rider hurled the grenade onto the road to discourage further pursuit.
About 4.30am, a bomb went off outside the passenger terminal at Suvarnabhumi airport, injuring four PAD supporters, two seriously. Police say two grenades were fired from an M79 launcher.
The third blast occurred at FM 92.75 and FM 107.5 community radio station for taxi drivers, on Vibhavadi Rangsit Soi 3 in Chatuchak district about 5.30am.
The blast wounded three taxi drivers and six guards of the pro-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD). It also damaged a public telephone booth and metal fence.
Security guard Thanatwit Mosiri said he saw someone hurl two objects from Don Muang expressway and he ran for cover about 10 gunshots were fired from opposite Vibhavadi Rangsit Soi 16.
A staff member at Lotus Express convenience store on Vibhavadi Rangsit Soi 3 saw a pickup truck loaded with people parked on the expressway right above the radio station before the bombs were dropped.
About 6.45am, an explosion occurred near a PAD makeshift stage at Don Mueang airport, the government's temporary office, which the PAD laid siege to on Monday.
Two PAD guards aged in their forties were hurt. One received serious shrapnel wounds to the waist and hip.
Witnesses said a van with tinted windows was passing slowly on Don Muang expressway before the explosion.
Four city schools - Don Muang Thaharnargardbumrung school, Don Muang Chaturachinda school, Wat Sommanas school and Rachawinit (Pathom) - remain closed for safety reasons.
Officials said classes were expected to resume on Monday.
