A new rail route linking the northeastern province of Nong Khai and Laos will be given a trial run on July 4 and 5. Provincial governor Jadet Musikawong and other officials met a delegation from Laos led by Wongdara Khamhung, the deputy director-general of the immigration department of Laos, to discuss preparations for the test run of the 35km rail route between Nong Khai station and Tha Na Laeng station in Hat Sai Fong in Laos on July 4-5.
They agreed that during the trial the number of passengers and the number of carriages will be recorded, the number of journeys logged. Both sides want an online communication system to be installed on board during the test run.
Roads crossing the railway path will be closed for 5-10 minutes before the trains are scheduled to pass.
