ENERGY :PTT Exploration and Production Plc (PTTEP) said yesterday that production had begun from its Ca Ngu Vang (CNV) field with an approximate flow rate of 8,000 barrels per day of crude and 20 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of natural gas.
The CNV field represents the first petroleum production from Vietnam for PTTEP. Crude oil and gas are expected to reach the target of 20,000 barrels per day of crude and 50 mmscfd of gas by the end of 2008.
The field is operated by the subsidiary PTTEP Hoan Vu Co Ltd, which has a 25% participation interest in the Vietnam 9-2 block. Other partners are PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corp with 50% and Soco Vietnam Ltd with 25%.
The gas produced will be sold to Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, a state-owned enterprise.
PTTEP shares closed yesterday on the Stock Exchange of Thailand at 156 baht, up six baht, in trade worth 1.28 billion baht.

TOT 3G budget
COMMUNICATIONS :The TOT board of directors has endorsed a 27-billion-baht plan to invest in a third-generation (3G) mobile network with 5,200 base stations nationwide, including 2,000 in Bangkok.
TOT senior executive vice president Wichien Narkseenuan said the state enterprise would become a network provider and would rent the network to private operators to offer 3G services.
He said TOT chose to rent the network because it lacked the marketing experience of the private sector.
He said the network would be available for rent by all private operators who are TOT business allies such as AIS, True, TT&T and DTAC.

B1bn issue from AP
PROPERTY :Asian Property Development Plc said yesterday that it would sell bonds worth up to one billion baht next week to refinance debt and for working capital.
The unsecured bonds would have a maturity of three years and carry a coupon of 5% for the first year, 6% for the second and 7% for the third year, the developer told the Securities and Exchange Commission.
AP plans to sell 700 million baht initially and will offer another 300 million baht if demand is strong, said an executive of Siam Commercial Bank, the bond's underwriter.
The bonds, rated BBB+ by Tris Rating, would be open for subscription from Aug 4-7 and would be issued on Aug 8 to both retail and institutional investors, the company said.
Benchmark three-year government bonds were yielding 4.70% yesterday and the average spread over comparable government bonds for A- rated corporate bonds of three to five years was 81.5 basis points.
AP shares closed yesterday at 4.70 baht, up six satang, in trade worth 6.19 million baht.

Upgrade for CAS
FINANCE :Fitch Ratings (Thailand) Ltd has upgraded the residential mortgage special servicer rating of Capital Advisory Services (Thailand) Ltd (CAS) to RSS2(tha) from RSS2-(tha).
Fitch said the upgrade reflected CAS's experienced and stable management, advanced and efficient computer systems, and strong managerial support from its parent, Capital Services Holding Corporation (CSHC) and other group companies.
Since its establishment in 2000, CAS has been servicing the Thai investment portfolios of certain investors, particularly Lehman Brothers. It serviced LB's GT Stars II securitisation in 2005, with the bonds paid off earlier than scheduled, and with solid performance.
As of the end of 2007, CAS had serviced 28,000 residential loans with about 40 billion baht in unpaid balances.

New Kao product
CONSUMER GOODS :Kao Commercial (Thailand) Ltd has introduced a new sanitary napkin product with an aim to expand its share in the nighttime napkin market this year.
Yuji Shimizu, the company's vice-president for the consumer marketing business, said the overall market for nighttime sanitary napkins was valued at almost 900 million baht, with 17% annual growth as women are using more of the products each year.
Company research last year found that the usage of nighttime napkins was up to 33% and growth is forecast to be higher this year.
The new 30cm Laurier Night-Lub Sabai Thung Khean line is intended to complete the line of Laurier Night Care products. Kao has named actress Chermal "Ploy" Bunyasak as its new presenter to reach the target market.
