Scuffle at parliament could result in charge

Chaos erupted in parliament when a People's Alliance for Democracy sympathiser charged at pro-government activists yesterday.
The incident took place after Sant Hateerat of the Democracy Confederation and Weng Tojirakarn, a co-leader of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD), forwarded a statement to government chief whip Witthaya Buranasiri opposing military intervention as a way to break the political impasse.
The three men and People Power party MP for Roi Et Nisit Sinthuprai, as chairman of the parliament affairs panel, then held a press conference calling on people to use peaceful means to resist protesters, to avoid a military coup.
Mr Weng said the PAD should move out of Government House. Terdsak Jiamkijwattana, a pro-monarchy activist from Chiang Mai, then walked up to the activists and tried to punch them.
Mr Terdsak had been waiting for his turn to file a petition with appointed senator Somchai Sawaengkarn, who leads parliament's human rights panel.
Mr Terdsak wants an inquiry into the death of his father Settha, who was killed in a knife attack in Chiang Mai on Tuesday during a rally by red-shirted government supporters.
As he threw a punch, he said his father was killed by people on the same side as the activists. Security guards took him away but Mr Terdsak fought back. He was led out of the room to cool off.
Surapong Towijakchaikul, a Chiang Mai MP for PPP, reprimanded the security guards for letting Mr Terdsak in.
The guards claimed Mr Somchai accompanied Mr Terdsak into the room.
Dusit police say charges may be pressed against Mr Terdsak.
Mr Terdsak said he was not a PAD member, but a co-leader of the Chiang Mai-based "King's Musketeers Group."
About the same time yesterday, bombs were thrown and gunshots fired at PAD-backed broadcaster ASTV in Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok.
The attack came from the nearby Chao Phraya river.
Security guards said the attackers travelled on a boat from Rama VIII bridge towards Pin Klao bridge.
They fired two bombs, which police suspect were M79 grenades, at a satellite dish on the rooftop, but the bombs hit metal screens first and exploded.
Police yesterday found 15 home-made guns, an axe and other weapons in a Dharma Army six-wheel truck taking 20 protesters to Suvarnabhumi airport.
Police found a gun, a bulletproof vest, and a BB gun in a search of a house belonging to PAD guard Wittaya Wiyaset, 38, in Laksi district.
At the house of another guard, Pitakpol Wiyaset, 38, in Bang Sue district police also found a gun and bullets. The two were charged with illegal possession of firearms.
