Presently, the plant is operating at a production capacity of 68,000 MT per annum.

Birla Viscose... fibre of the future
Aditya Birla Group, with its rayon manufacturing operations in India, Indonesia and Thailand, is the world’s largest producer of Viscose Staple Fibre. Though these plants operate as separate entities, the company integrated the identity of its fibre business under an umbrella brand, ‘Birla Viscose’, to showcase the unique features of viscose – Feel, Comfort and Fashion – the attributes providing sustainable value to discerning customers all over the world. This brand quality also accords a powerful image to the industry leader status of the group in the global rayon industry.

Viscose is produced by using wood pulp – a product as natural as any natural fibre, with an array of choices to meet customers’ needs. Viscose is completely biodegradable. In comparison to cotton, it is softer, more absorbent and more comfortable to wear – whether in 100% form or in blends with other natural and synthetic fibres.

“Birla Viscose” finds application primarily in shirts, trousers, diapers, sanitary napkins, tissues, wipes, knitwear, towels and bed linen. It absorbs twice as much moisture as cotton, ensuring more wearing comfort, in addition to vibrant and cheerful colours. “Birla Viscose” is available in raw white mat and spun dyed collections with over 5,000 colours, a denier range from ultra fine 0.8 to 20, and lengths from 32 mm to 120 mm. Specialty ranges include chlorine-free and anti-bacterial fibre for personal and hygienic uses.

Birla Viscose is a very versatile fibre and can be used as 100% or in a blend with other fibres to give comfort, feel and fashion:

* 100% Rayon – highly absorbent, provides comfort, softness and evenness
* Cotton+Viscose – gives better Iuntre and more uniformed appearance
* Polyester+Viscose – gives dimensional stability and comfort
* Acrylic+Viscose – brilliant colours and better drape
* Wool+Viscose, Silk+Viscose and Lycra+Viscose – good stretch

Birla Viscose, therefore, is a premium brand of fibre offering sustainable consumer value.
