Rice has been the stable crop of Asia for many hundreds of years and still today is the most important food for billions of people. Ninety per cent of the world’s rice is grown in Asia, and Thailand is the world’s largest rice supplier, exporting seven million tonnes a year. One of the main companies in this market is Capital Rice Company Limited.

“We feed the world”
Capital Rice Company Limited is an affiliate of the STC Group of Companies, which is involved in the local and overseas distribution of Thai agricultural products. Founded in 1977 to handle the group’s rice business, Capital Rice has expanded steadily and is now Thailand’s largest rice exporter. Its distinguished reputation in the business is supported by a steady growth and a string of solid achievements over the years in exporting high-quality Thai rice to almost every part of the world.

The company is known for its prompt and efficient service and excellent transportation facilities. Its state-of-the-art factory has the most advanced facilities of its kind, with a production process characterised by a fully-automatic control system. Its warehouses, located both at the factory and upcountry, have a total combined storage capacity of 300,000 tonnes.

Capital Rice is the pioneer in the use of silo storage system to maintain consistent quality. The principal warehouse boasts covered, spacious container loading areas, as well as a wharf for large vessels.

Packed with quality
Rice produced and supplied under the Capital Rice trademark is of the highest quality, clean and properly packed in various sizes to suit the specific needs of customers.

Capital Rice responds to global trends in the packaging of its products, utilising the most modern and precise computerised packing technology.

Quality control, which involves the careful selection of raw materials and subjecting them to physical tests, to conform with the export standards, also plays an integral part in the company’s operations. A random inspection, guided by the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Programme (HACCP), is regularly conducted at each stage.

In recognition of the company’s adherence to high product quality and safety standards, Capital Rice Company Limited has received the Prime Minister’s Export Award 2000 for Outstanding Performance as the Best Exporter. In addition, it is a proud recipient of the HACCP certificate — proof of its products’ quality and safety. In February 2001, to highlight Capital Rice’s series of achievement, the company received the prestigious ISO 9002 certificate.

Furthermore, in response to the growing demand for chemical-free foods, Capital Rice, in 1995, embarked into marketing organic rice under the Great Harvest brand, and invited inspectors from Europe to monitor the cultivation of organic rice in Thailand.
