Vision to become
“ the kitchen of the world”

Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF) was registered as Charoen Pokphand Feedmill Co., Ltd. on 17 January 1978 to distribute livestock feed in the southern part of Thailand. Its business expanded in 1987, to include livestock farming, with the objective of moving towards further integration. The following year, CPF entered the aquaculture business, in the area of shrimp feed manufacturing and distribution, shrimp culture and processing for export.

In 1997, the Charoen Pokphand Group underwent business restructuring, with CPF acquiring the Group’s livestock and meat processing companies. The acquisition was completed by 1998, and made CPF Thailand’s largest agrobusiness and food manufacturing company.

The acquisition was one step further to CPF’s vision to become the “Kitchen of the World”, via the production of quality foods that are nutritious, hygienic and safe for consumption. These products are manufactured under environmentally friendly processes and procedures. In December 1999, the company changed its name into Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited, to reflect this new business strategy.

Quality products and services
• Animal feed production
The company produces feed for broilers, layers, swine, ducks, shrimp and fish. These are distributed to customers in every region of the country through direct sales and sales representatives.
• Animal breeding
The company continuously does research on ways to improve the breed of various types of animals. The goal is to obtain quality breeds that are free from diseases and
suitable to the breeding environment.
• Animal farming
Products in this category include live animals, chicken eggs and black tiger shrimp. The company focuses on improving the farming process via modernisation, good management, proper sanitation and advanced technology – all done via constant research and development.
• Processing plants and
further processing plants
The company brings the products from various animal farms to its processing plants for slaughtering and/or cutting up and trimming, according to customer specifications. These are then packed and frozen for distribution as frozen meat products for local and overseas distribution.

High-standard production
Every stage of the company’s production process is under strict quality control standards to meet internationally recognised requirements in production. It has been certified with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), EST/TH, ISO 9002 (operating and management system traceable with documentation) and ISO 14001 (environmental management). Most recently, the company implemented the ISO 18001, which involves the safety and welfare of employees. In addition, the company has received certification from the U.K. supermarket chain, Tesco, for meeting its stringent animal welfare standard. It is also the first company outside the EU to achieve this standard in chicken production, which is the most stringent of all current industry standards.
