Another dramatic year in the affairs of Thailand and the world has flown by. Perhaps the most serious events have been the war in Iraq and the advent of SARS. Still Thailand seems to be blessed. Although the GDP has been affected by a drop in tourist arrivals, our commercial and manufacturing sectors are thriving in a rapidly improving environment for trade. Today, to celebrate 57 years of continuous publishing, the Bangkok Post features just 57 prominent enterprises, which have made significant investments in Thailand and have an important role to play in the future. They are all successful and dynamic companies which have launched new products, built new manufacturing plants, received quality recognition through ISO certification or simply keep expanding. Of course, there are many more such companies and we hope perhaps to feature them at some future date. This is a birthday celebration and like most people we are delighted and proud to have these companies, our friends, here with us on this special occasion. You can all depend on the Bangkok Post to remain ‘the newspaper you can trust’ and Post Today, our new Thai-language business daily newspaper, to uphold the highest ethical standards of journalism. Both newspapers will continue to help our advertisers achieve deserved success by successfully marketing their products and services .
