Established in 1987 as Polene Co., Ltd., the company is now the third largest producer of cement products in the country, and the largest producer of LDPE (low density polyethylene). The company originally supplied plastic pellets to be used in plastic-related manufacturing. In 1989, the company changed its name to TPI Polene Company Limited, when it took over an LDPE plant and received a license from Thai Petrochemical Industry Limited (TPI) to set up a cement production plant.

TPI Polene is one of the few concrete and cement companies that are Thai owned, and intends to remain this way far into the future.

Business Overview
TPI Polene Public Company Limited owns three cement manufacturing plants in Saraburi, with a total capacity of 9,000,000 tonnes per year. It was granted a concession to operate three limestone quarries, which are conveniently located close to the plants. These concessions will last for 100 years. It also owns two LDPE/EVA plants in Rayong. The company is also a major shareholder of Thai Nitrate Co., Ltd., which is the sole producer of ammonium nitrate and nitric acid in the country.

One of TPI Polene’s subsidiary companies, TPI Concrete Ltd., operates the concrete business through its 29 ready-mixed concrete processing units, located in Bangkok and other surrounding provinces. It boasts the production capacity of 3,654,000 cubic metres per year.

Achievements
The company has been accredited with numerous awards and certifications. Among the outstanding ones are:
• TIS/ISO 9002 certification, in recognition of its quality management system
• ISO 14001 certification, in recognition of its environmental management system
• Health and Safety Management
TIS 18001 certification
• Cement and Plastic Pellet Product Standards Award, from the Consumer Protection Board

Future vision
TPI Polene intends to become even more active in the sector and expand its business activities in order to become a truly global company that offers the best quality products and services. On top of everything, what remains as the company’s most important goal is to remain a truly Thai company, run for and owned by the Thai people.
