World's leading energy resource development
Unocal's vision is to be the world's leading energy resource and project development company — the best people, the best partner and the best performance. The company combines the global reach and technical and financial resources of a major company with the agility and aggressiveness of a small independent enterprise.

Unocal produces and sells a broad array of essential energy resources and develops major energy projects that help improve the quality of life of customers around the world. The company's primary mission is to maximise — ethically and responsibly — the total returns to stockholders of the company.

UNOCAL in Thailand
As a subsidiary of Unocal Corporation, Unocal Thailand Ltd. was the first oil company to win exploration rights in Thailand in 1962. The company is engaged in the exploration and production of natural gas, crude oil and condensate in the Gulf of Thailand.

Unocal's production of natural gas for Thailand fulfills about 30% of the country's total electricity demand.
More than 75% of the natural gas produced by the company is used to generate electricity.

Contributing to
Thailand’s growth

Throughout Unocal’s 40-year operation, the company and its joint ventures have invested approximately US$ 7 billion in Thailand, helping to create a strong, vital energy sector. Over the next decade, Unocal estimates that its joint ventures will invest a further US$ 4.5 billion in Thailand.

supplying energy to increase Thailand’s
self-reliance

Delivering more gas supplies to the Thai market in a cost-effective, timely and environmentally safe manner is Unocal's top priority. As the largest gas producer in Thailand, Unocal has been providing more than five trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas to the country since 1981.

Highly trained and skilled workforce
Unocal’s talented and dedicated staff are responsible for the company’s outstanding performance in Thailand. The company currently has about 1,100 employees, 92% of whom are Thai nationals. In addition to the company’s own workforce, Unocal Thailand is also directly responsible for over 1,500 employment opportunities, for people working for contractors and vendors.

A caring history
Throughout Unocal’s 40 years in Thailand, the company has recognised the importance of supporting educational, health care, cultural and environmental programmes that contribute to the quality of life of the people in communities where the company operates.
