The
secret of better buildings
As the Permasteelisa Group’s holding company in Thailand,
Global Architectural
Co., Ltd. comes under the umbrella of Permasteelisa Pacific
Holdings, Singapore.
Part of a truly global organisation
Permasteelisa is a well-known global organisation, with
32 companies and production plants and test facilities
in Europe, Asia, the U.S.A. and Australia. Principally
involved in the production of pre-fabricated building
components, the group’s main specialities are unitised
curtain walls; metal and stone cladding; internal walls;
partitions; and other related products.
The group’s decision in 2002 to build a regional manufacturing
centre led to the construction of Global Architectural
Co., Ltd.
in Chon Buri, Thailand in August 2003. The new plant enables
the company to satisfy the growing demand for high-quality
building components all over the world. As a pioneer in
advanced facade systems, Permasteelisa is transferring
all of its technological know-how to this new facility.
The largest and most modern facilities
Located in the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate in Chon
Buri, the new, state-of-the-art Global Architectural
Co., Ltd.’s factory was completed in March 2004. The
factory is equipped with the most modern technology,
tools and equipment required for machining fabrication,
assembly and packing. Full production capacity is expected
to be achieved by the
third quarter of 2004.
Well-trained and experienced personnel use the same techniques,
procedures and
in-house software as those used at other Permasteelisa
facilities throughout the world.
Global Architectural’s BOI promotional privileges, granted
in February 2004, mean that both local and global customers
can be assured of competitive pricing.
Major activities and processes
The machining area at Global Architectural utilises computerised
CNC multi-tasking machines, automatic double saws and
other modern tools, to manufacture the aluminium frames
of pre-fabricated panels. These frames undergo stringent
quality checks, before being placed in a covered stockyard,
ready for assembly.
Sub-assembly area
After machining, all parts other than glazing elements
are taken to the sub-assembly area, where they are subsequently
assembled.
A quality checklist form accompanies each assembled panel
to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Assembly/glazing area
Automated conveyor lines in the assembly/glazing area
optimise the output without compromising the quality.
Each work process is timed and must conform to the quality
checklist that accompanies each pre-fabricated panel.
Packing & loading
area
All pre-fabricated building component panels are securely
palleted and covered for weather protection, while awaiting
loading. The pallets are designed to enable multi-stacking
and to facilitate convenient loading and unloading.
Technical & engineering
office
The more than 40 designers, engineers and autocadsmen
in the technical and engineering office provide the
necessary technical expertise to determine the usage
of the right materials and to ensure that they conform
with ASTM, DIN and JIS standards. Structural evaluation
of main support frames is also carried out here, as
well as other performance inspections.
Test facility
The company’s newly built structural performance test
facility is the first of its kind in Thailand, and includes
the world’s largest pressure chamber for conducting
the Sirowet Test.
