Masterclasses in metalworking

Established in 1991 to manufacture electronic parts and devices, Hitachi Ferrite (Thailand) Limited. (HFT) has grown to become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of rotary transformers, isolators, circulators, ferrite powder and soft ferrite cores. Its Board-of-Investment-promoted 44,260-square-metre factory is one of the most modern in the country, and employs the very latest Japanese technology from Hitachi Metals, Ltd. HFT has invested heavily in both time and money to develop every one of its 896 employees, enabling the manufacture of superior quality products.

Global status
Manufactured in a clean working environment at the company’s facility in Rojana Industrial Park, HFT’s products are exported to such countries as Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia, France and Australia, as well as other overseas markets.

HFT’s showcase product, however, is the rotary transformer. Rotary transformers are an essential component in video cassette recorders (VCRs). Installed at the cylinder head of the VCR, they transfer magnetic to electrical signals and vice versa.

HFT is also capable of producing its own ferrite powder and soft ferrite core, both vital components for rotary transformers.

HFT is also well-known for its communication devices, such as isolators and circulators, which are core components in modern-day mobile phones.

Training to succeed
Highly skilled employees are always the driving force behind the success of every business. For a company to achieve growth, it must recognise the importance of its human resources and find ways to motivate the workers in order for them to be most productive. In realising this, HFT organises in-house training and development programmes for employees at all levels. Experts flown in from abroad conduct technical workshops to upgrade staff skills, while offshore training is also offered. In order to promote good business relationships with clients, and to provide a better understanding of the company’s products, HFT specialists also provide customers with practical advice.

A green tomorrow
“Mutual Trust” has always been at the core of the HFT operation. Applying equally to the customer and company; the community and company; and even to two or more of the employees, the policy reflects the understanding and respect that HFT has for its operations, the people involved and the surrounding environment. This was why Hitachi Ferrite (Thailand) Ltd. decided to implement the ISO 14001 environmental system into its operations. Every employee, from management down, was subjected to rigorous training to promote the importance of environmental preservation. From garbage disposal to encouraging community awareness, every aspect had to be considered in order for the company to achieve its ultimate goal.

After months of intense training and hard work by staff at all levels, HFT successfully obtained certification on 30 September 2003. This achievement has cemented the company’s goal of becoming an environmentally exemplary enterprise. And to consumers, the certification is a guarantee that HFT is a company with outstanding values.
