Pan Asia Paper (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was initially established
in 1991 under the name of Shin Ho Paper (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
However, after Norske Skogindustrier ASA acquired major shares
in the company in 1998, the company’s name was changed to Norske
Skog (Thailand) Co., Ltd. Soon afterwards,
a joint venture between Norske Skogindustrier ASA (from Norway)
and Abitibi Consolidated (from Canada) was formed, called Pan
Asia Paper Co. Pte Ltd. Pan Asia Paper’s headquarters are in
Singapore. Its operations include four mills in three Asian
countries, South Korea, China and Thailand. While, the 5th mill
is under construction in the northern part of China.
Presently employing 326 staff, Pan Asia Paper (Thailand)
Co., Ltd. was founded to manufacture newsprint for both domestic
and international markets. The company’s products have won
the confidence of such leading newspapers in Thailand as the
Bangkok Post, Thai Rath, Daily News, Kom Chad Luek, Matichon,
Khao Sod, Krungthep Turakij, The Nation, Siam Sport Daily
and Star Soccer.
Environmentally friendly
Pan Asia Paper (Thailand) Co., Ltd. takes pride in participating
in environmental preservation efforts and in its contributions
to Thai society. In recognising the harmful effects of water
and air pollution on the ecosystem, Pan Asia Paper (Thailand)
Co., Ltd. attempts to minimise and prevent pollution caused
by its production process for the benefit of its surroundings.
The company’s decision to implement the ISO 14001 environmental
management system was another step forward in its development.
ISO 14001 was successfully achieved and endorsed by Lloyd’s
Register Quality Assurance Limited (LRQA) on 7 March 2003.
Environmental quality control
Pan Asia Paper (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has always been dedicated
to improving its business performance, while complying with
stringent environmental protection regulations. The company’s
achievement of both
ISO 9001:2000 and the ISO 14001 environmental management certificate
is testimony to its uncompromising commitment to providing
high-quality products that are environmentally friendly.
It is important to Pan Asia Paper (Thailand) Co., Ltd. that
it helps minimise waste and pollutants. Thus, all of the company’s
production processes are carefully designed and continually
improved for the purpose of achieving high raw material usage
yields, efficient energy utilisation, and minimisation of
harmful substances in effluent discharges and emissions.
Occupational health and safety
Pan Asia Paper (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was recently certified
for OHSAS 18000 safety management system by Lloyd’s Register
Quality Assurance Limited on 1 April 2004.
