Quality focus
USSIL believes that a strong focus on quality
is the only sure way of achieving enhanced customer assurance
and maintaining competitiveness in the world market. Hence,
ISO 9001:1994 practices were quickly introduced at the plant
and extended to all stages of the company’s operations.
USSIL was first awarded its ISO 9001:1994 accreditation in
1994, followed by ISO 9001:2000 in 2003. However, implementation
of the ISO 9001 quality management system is only part of
the company’s production improvement goal. The company has
also always been committed to improving product quality in
order to deliver a reliable product, and fully satisfy customers’
requirements.
Human resource development
USSIL strongly believes that human resource development is
a key component in its drive for quality and success.
To ensure human resource excellence, USSIL has taken the
initiative to implement such participative management activities
as 5S, the Kaizen Suggestion System and TPM Circles/Small
Group activities. This extensive skill development programme
has also contributed to improved teamwork ethics, boosted
morale, raised work efficiency and sharpened self management
skills.
In addition to the training programmes, USSIL also emphasises
encouraging and supporting the community in several different
ways.
To raise employees’ awareness of their responsibility to society,
the company has also been involved in a variety of social
projects. Among these activities are donations to orphanages,
the Thai Red Cross Society and foundations for the poor and
disabled, and funding of scholarships for deserving students.
The company also participates in the government’s drug-free
projects and helps support nearby communities.
With a commitment to upholding the TPM principles long into
the future through in-depth human resource development, USSIL
will continue to advance the knowledge and skills of its staff,
while at the same time upgrading quality standards. In this
way, it will continue to provide excellence, both in terms
of quality and service, to all its customers.
