A BOI-promoted project, Zeon Chemicals (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
(ZCT) is located in Rayong’s well-known industrial estate, a
short distance from Laem Chabang Port, Thailand’s largest deep-water
seaport. Zeon Corporation owns a majority stake in the company
amounting to more than 70 per cent, with Mitsui Co., Ltd., Mitsiam
International Co., Ltd. and Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited
as the other shareholders.
ZCT is Zeon Corporation’s first C5 fraction facility to be
built overseas. Combined with the two plants in Japan, the
company is currently able to produce about 65,000 tonnes of
C5 Hydrocarbon Resins per year, making Zeon Corporation the
largest manufacturer of C5 Hydrocarbon Resin in Asia.

company’s achievement of ISO 9001:2000 certification is seen
as another outstanding success to add to its list of achievements.

Leading support
Zeon Corporation now focuses on the C5 downstream business,
comprising such products as IR (Isoprene Rubber), SIS elastomer,
perfume (aroma) chemicals, optical resins, and hydrocarbon
resins.

Flagship product
Zeon Corporation’s brand of hydrocarbon resins, Quintone,
is the company’s flagship product. To manufacture this multipurpose
substance, ZCT utilises special components of the C5 fraction,
only obtainable from the GPI process (Zeon Isoprene Process)
developed solely by Zeon Corporation. This process enables
each chemical to be efficiently abstracted and separated from
the C5 fraction. Quintone’s tackiness and durable qualities
make this unique product ideal for all sorts of applications,
such as road marking paint, tape, paper, PVC, cellophane film
and even rubber.
