Editor's Note

It maybe the most important day in your life, but with the rising cost of living it could also mean that your wedding day may bring more debt than joy.

Since many of us are not born with silver spoons in our mouths, a wedding, for many, may mean an expenditure of a lifetime. Most people love grandeur weddings and spend well beyond their means to make their wedding day a day to remember, for them, their families and their friends.

However, times are not the same and an entire life's savings can be wiped out in a single day. These days it is best to look at financial plans for a wedding in a frugal manner.

As weddings are an elaborate and important part of Asian culture, good financial planning, couple with a few hard decision, could make the day an event no one is likely to forget soon.

Small things such as renting a wedding gown or foregoing expensive flowers as decor for the reception or church, or even holding the reception in your home, instead of a hotel, could help save money that can be in used in the future.

The money saved from the wedding can be used to buy a new house, or saved for a future rainy day, so that the newly-weds enjoy a longer honeymoon.
