Other choices are that the couple have their reception in a trendy restaurant, a nice garden or even a lovely pub. All will be much cheaper than a hotel
Second is miscellaneous costs including wedding gowns, flowers, make-up artists, photo shooting, camera and video operators, on-stage shows and music during the wedding.
This part is always flexible as it can be reduced or increased according to the remainder of the budget.
If the budget is limited after deducting key expenses, couples may go for an inexpensive choice of wedding gowns or opt for cheaper photo shooting package.
On average, a bride's wedding gown can cost 25,000 to 50,000 baht, and upwards. The price is much less for the groom's outfit. Hence, the economical way is to rent a wedding dress.
When all the expenses are calculated, it's time to sit down and work out the income, which is in the form of cash gifts.
According to Tullaya, on an average, of a total of 500 invitations sent, only 300 to 400 cash gifts should be expected. And, averagely each returned envelope would contain around 500 baht.
"This is based on average assumption. The amount of cash gifts usually depend largely on the couples' background. If they come from middle to high-end class, they can expect to see around 1,000 baht and higher from each envelope. If they come from lower class, the average cash gift will be around 300 to 400 baht."
Once the couple have a rough estimate of the money they are going to receive, they can decide how the money is to be allocated.
For instance, if the cash received is 300,000 baht, while expenses are expected to be 400,000 baht, then they know they have to finance another 100,000 baht.
If a couple's financial plan for their wedding is sound, everything else just falls into place.

Choose a suitable date for both families.
- Start making calls and booking venues six or even 12 months in advance. Try to check as many hotels as you can. The more you call, the more chances you'll get better deals.
- Always bear in mind a custom-designed gown usually takes time and several fittings. So don't leave it to the last minute.
- Keep notes on everything and put them in one place.
- If you don't employ a wedding planner, you will need to do a lot of things on your own, including checking the venues, food, emcee, musician, show and the like. Most hotels provide these services.
