Spoilt with choices

There are at least 81 serviced apartment projects with a total of 10,564 units operating within Bangkok's Inner City, encompassing the Central Business District (CBD), lower Sukhumvit, Rama III, Phaya Thai-Phetchaburi, Rama IX and Ratchadaphisek areas.

The Bangkok serviced apartment market is still growing fast with new supply being added up to the year 2007. Over a 10-year period, the supply of serviced apartments has grown by over 300%, from less than 3,000 units in 1995 to over 10,000 by the end of 2005.

Most of the serviced apartment supply is centred in the popular Sukhumvit area where most foreign business travellers like to congregate because of its location, which is abundant with amenities. There are in total, 37 serviced apartment projects comprising 5,052 units (48%) in this much sought-after location. This is followed by the CBD area, with a total of 3,328 serviced apartment units from 29 projects. (Figure 1)

2005 saw five new serviced apartments projects come onto the market, namely, the Sunrise Residence located on Sala Daeng Road totalling 28 units, Fraser Place Langsuan on Lang Suan Road with 129 units, the new phase of Waterford serviced apartments on Sukhumvit 30 Road totalling 56 units, the Baan Thai located on Sukhumvit 32 Road totalling 13 units, and Centre Point Thonglor on Sukhumvit 55 Road which put another 156 units onto the market.
