Big cities around the world have always fascinated photographers to produce artworks that celebrate the fast-paced high-energy vibe of urban life. Premiering tomorrow at La Lanta Fine Art gallery is Wooden Postcards, a mixed-media exhibition by two Dallas-based lensmen M. K. Semos and Hugo Garcia Urrutia that promises to take the audience on a journey to world famous cities like they've never experienced before.
Wooden Postcards is an ongoing body of work and visual interpretation of an urban landscape, full of nostalgia, decay and charm, from New York City, London, Mexico City, and other cities around the globe. The exhibition showcases 20 pieces of photographic imagery transferred onto reclaimed wooden floorboards, allowing the viewer to experience the grains and truest colours of the wood as part of the image composition.
Before the opening of the show, Life talked with two artists about their debut exhibition in the City of Angels.
