But now, a year later, this unique book has finally found its place, hitting best-seller lists around the world. HBO bought the rights to make a TV adaptation.
Then Goon Squad won this year's Pulitzer prize for fiction, and the US National Book Critics Circle Award, plus 10 other literary awards.
Jennifer Egan's rising popularity is phenomenal. Time magazine included her in the list of 100 Most Influential People of 2011 on the strength of this, her fourth book.
