Political drama examines the evolution of a scandal and the media's role in US foreign policy

The Valerie Plame affair, as observers of US foreign policy and national security knew since 2003, dealt a blow to the conservative hawks of the Bush administration and its justification of the Iraqi war _ though the White House intrigues and the legal imperatives that followed hardly changed the outcome of that sinful invasion.

Sean Penn and Naomi Watts as the whistleblowing couple who suffered both professionally and personally in their pursuit of the truth.

Seven years have passed, Bush has left and Obama has announced a withdrawal from Iraq, and now we have Naomi Watts, resplendent and dauntless, playing Plame, CIA operative and wife of the morally indignant Joseph Wilson, played with scene-chewing aplomb by Sean Penn.
